Takeshi Sugai finished master course of graduate school of Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Tokyo in 1983. He received Ph.D. degree in agriculture in 1987 under the guidance of Prof. Kenji Mori. After working at Keio University in Japan and the Scripps Research Institute, CA, USA, from 2008, he is Professor of organic and biocatalytic chemistry in faculty of pharmacy, Keio University. He got "Synthetic Organic Chemistry Award, Japan" in 2020 from the Society of Synthetic Organic Chemisry, Japan. His research interests are "application of biocatalysts and natural resources in the organic syntheses of bioactive compounds".
