After receiving her PhD in Physical Chemistry from Quaid-i-Azam University Pakistan, Tahira worked as an Assistant Professor with Federal Directorate of Education Pakistan before she joined Professors Khan and Opperman as a postdoctoral research associate in 2016. Ever since, her research is focused on the development of nature-inspired sustainable technologies and materials to reduce toxic solvents, minimize complicated reaction steps and recycle wastes. With her co-workers at NC State University, she is developing various delivery platforms (seed coatings, foliar applications, etc.) for agricultural moieties to minimize their non-target losses. While her research is diversified into the fabrication of biodegradable materials as aerogels, nanofibers and particles, she considers the development of 'wrap and plant' technology for crop protection in sub-Saharan Africa as the most exciting achievement of her contribution towards establishing sustainable agriculture.
