Dr. Kazuhiro Irie

Dr. Kazuhiro Irie is a Full Professor at the Division of Food Science and Biotechnology at Kyoto University. He received his B. Agr. (1982), M. Agr. (1984), and D. Agr. (1988) from Kyoto University. He was appointed as an instructor at the Department of Food Science and Technology in Kyoto University in 1984. In 1992, he joined to the group of Professor Paul A. Wender at the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University as a visiting scholar for one year. He then became an Associate Professor at Kyoto University in 1999. Since 2007, he has been a Full Professor of the Division of Food Science and Biotechnology, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University. His research interests are in the area of organic chemistry related to life sciences, with an emphasis on tumor promotion and Alzheimer's disease.
