Prof. John M Torkelson

John Torkelson is a Walter P. Murphy Professor at Northwestern University. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the U. of Wisconsin and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the U. of Minnesota. At Northwestern, he has served as Assistant Department Chair in Chemical Engineering, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research of Engineering and Applied Science, and Director of the Materials Research Center. He has received Teacher of the Year and Advisor of the Year Awards from the Engineering School and the Northwestern Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award. John has served as Chair of the Division of Polymer Physics of the APS and Chair of the Materials Engineering and Science Division of AIChE. He has received the Polymer Physics Prize from the Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Physics and the Charles M. Stine Award from AIChE and is a Fellow of the APS and the AAAS.
