Professor Ivan Robert Kennedy PhD DSc(Agric)

Professor Emeritus in Agricultural & Environmental Chemistry, University of Sydney

With decades of collaborative research with more than 70 students and others on microbial and plant biochemistry, molecular biology and physical chemistry after graduating BSc(Agric), PhD and DSc(Agric) from the University of WA. Kennedy (AM,FRACI) claims three main interests. These are biological nitrogen fixation and the role of nitrogen cycling in acidification of ecosystems, risk management of pesticides and action in ecosystems. Since 2012, he has refocused his skills on physical climate science, as a sceptic of the IPCC viewpoint - applying the virial theorem to give an atmospheric lapse rate of 6.9 degrees/K per km, testing the role increasing atmospheric water vapor in dry areas and increasing vorticity  from surface roughness  as significant agents in recent global warming. Increasing pCO2 may result from declining surface alkalinity on land from exporting more food. Greenhouse credits for water use efficiency, reforestation and restoring alkalinity are needed.
