Dr. Fudong Liu

Assistant Professor, University of Central Florida

Fudong Liu received his bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2005 and PhD degree in Environmental Science (Environmental Catalysis) from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2010. He has been an assistant professor in CAS since Jul. 2010 and promoted to an associate professor in Dec. 2013. He moved to Materials Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in early 2014 continuing his research in nanomaterial synthesis and heterogeneous catalysis field under Prof. Gabor Somorjai. From 2015 to 2018, Dr. Liu worked at BASF Corporation as a Staff Chemist and Senior Chemist developing new concepts and catalyst technologies for gasoline emission control. In Fall 2018, Dr. Liu joined University of Central Florida as an assistant professor, establishing a new catalysis research group. His research interests are mainly focused on heterogenous catalysis for environmental applications, and topics include single site catalysis, nanomaterial synthesis, automotive emission control, CO2 utilization etc. Dr. Liu has published 97 peer reviewed papers with 7500+ citations and H-index of 44 (Google Scholar), 4 book chapters, and applied 30+ patents. He received the 2010 CAS President Scholarship, 2011 CAS Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, 2012 International Association of Catalysis Societies Young Scientist Award, 2013 Lu Jiaxi Young Talent Award, 2014 National Science &Technology Progress Award, China, 2019 National Natural Science Award, China, and 2020 TechConnect Defense Innovation Award.
