Dr. Cronin is a research Chemist with a background in sustainable energy and materials development. His work is within the general field of biorefining and the development of technologies intended to valorize lignocellulosic and municipal wastes, lessening society's dependence on fossil resources. Dr. Cronin is an expert in lignin valorization, and it is within this field that he completed his doctorate in Chemistry at Queensland University of Technology. His current field of research is the hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of wet-wastes and the upgrading of the biocrude mixtures produced. This work is conducted within the Chemical and Biological Processing group at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
