Daniel Citterio received his doctoral degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland in 1998. After postdoctoral research at Keio University in the group of Prof. Koji Suzuki as well as at the Centre for Chemical Sensors of ETH Zurich, followed by a position in industry (Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Inc.), he returned to Keio University in Japan in 2006, where he was appointed as an Associate Professor and promoted to the rank of Professor in 2014. Since 2017, he is the head of the Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry. His research interests include the development of low-cost analytical devices, of (bio)chemical sensors and of functional materials for use therein. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Currently, he serves as co-Editor-in-Chief for Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical (Elsevier), as well as being an Advisory Board member of Analytical Chemistry (ACS) and of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (Springer).
